It has been a busy few months:
I am taking 5 classes, working, and doing research for my thesis.
I went to the Midwestern meeting of the Society for Women in Philosophy (Midwest SWIP) for fall break. It was an eye opening experience and all of the papers were excellent. It is hard to say which one was “the best” or was my favorite but if I have to go out on a limb, I would pick 'White Talk' as a Barrier to Understanding Whiteness by Alison Bailey. (A pre-publication version of the paper can be found here). I personally have engaged in the “white talk” that she speaks of without even knowing it. It is one of those things that I am going to be paying more attention to in the future. It felt like everyone at Midwest SWIP was brilliant and it was humbling experience.
I AM BUILDING SOFTWARE. That's right, I am making something real and useful in my computer science class. By 2015, there should be a beta version of a [huggle|twinkle|Igloo|STiki|your-favorite-anti-vandalism-tool]-like tool for android. It is going to be a wild ride but I think it is going to be fun.
My rugby team is doing very well this season. We are currently 4-1-0 with one game left this season. It is nice to see my team transform from the winless season my freshman year to our current success.
Washcoll.net has been released to the public. If you are a WAC student and you want to write wiki pages about our school or just want some web space, go and check it out.
Please don't talk about my thesis. It is moving slowly but shurely. A large chunk of my theoretical basis is going to come from Foucault.
